Since their launch in 1993, GMTV have been the choice to wake up
to for nearly a third of the UK's population; that's 19 million
viewers each month.
GMTV broadcast from 6:00am to 09:25am daily and entertain the
nation with a lively mix of news, views and entertainment including
Children's programming on multiple platforms.
Behind the camera, however, GMTV are a broadcaster that embraces
the best technology. The intense broadcast schedule is the public
face of an organisation which relies on its IT infrastructure to
deliver the systems required to ensure that the show always goes
on.
Like any large corporation GMTV rely on the availability of
their IT systems from email, accounts, advertising, marketing and
sales; GMTV have terabytes of information across a complex high
availability IT infrastructure to deliver IT services to its
employees.
Peter Russell, the Head of Technologies at GMTV commented:
"The online
backup solution Databarracks proposed to our brief covered all
of our requirements in regards to data retrieval and Archive. It
has proved a one stop shop for GMTV with the level of support we
would expect and a trouble free installation. In these times of
ever tighter budgets, the quality of service we have for the outlay
is of a very high standard ".
Databarracks implemented a fully managed online backup service
to GMTV using Asigra based
software backing up to Databarracks' tier 4 data centre in Kent.
GMTV required an onsite backup of their data to ensure that any
server failures could be dealt with immediately and to the fastest
possible recovery time objectives (RTO), but also want the
reassurance that data was held automatically and immediately
offsite for recovery in the event of a major disaster affecting
their main site.
Databarracks manage the entire process for GMTV from the
implementation and configuration of the hardware and software
required to run the service, training of key GMTV IT personnel
through to the daily management and reporting of backups to GMTV.
This means that GMTV's staff have more time to focus on the job of
entertaining the nation.
Managing Director of Databarracks, Peter Groucutt said "We are
really pleased to add GMTV to our customer base. To be chosen to
partner with a national institution such as GMTV and provide
security to their IT operations is a thrill to the entire team here
at Databarracks."
Databarracks are the UK's leading provider of managed backup and
disaster recovery services. Based in London they service over 1,500
enterprise customers from all over the world.
