Taking a Step Forward in the Support for Virtual
Environments
The latest edition of the Asigra online backup software provided by
Databarracks boasts new archiving features and innovations to
follow the latest backup trends and requirements, allowing faster
recovery times.
Taking the current trend of virtualisation in stride, the
newest edition of Arxcis features agentless backup and recovery of
VMware ESXi in addition to the previous capabilities which just
reached ESX. The benefit of this advancement is that virtual
machines can be protected, and because the process is agentless,
there is no pre-requisite software necessary to operate. In
addition, the replication function of the software now is
'application aware' and will run appropriately as per the needs of
the specific application. Further, grid technology will allow
multiple backup applications to share the same backup server, which
will increase server utilisation, eliminate bottlenecks, and permit
all clients to have access until the backup is completed. Lastly,
Windows Vista Ultimate and Enterprise Editions are now
supported.
"We have been hard at work to ensure our environment and
systems are integrated into the new software and are set for the
release on 26 July 2008. The new system will allow users to
experience the highest level of security and utility available in
online backup today," says Oscar Arean, Technical Support Manager
at Databarracks
During Databarracks' 3 year partnership with Asigra, the
award-winning backup software behind the Arxcis solution, the
company has made constant efforts towards having Asigra provide
enhancements in each upgraded version which better cater to
client's needs.
