The Company

Databarracks is a disaster recovery and cloud service provider based in South West London. We have grown substantially winning new business and industry awards typical of companies many times our size. We did this by maintaining a small company ethos and hiring clever, motivated people who are invested in what they do and fun to be around.

We're a tight, focused team, with the internal resources to provide meaningful opportunities for progression and on-the-job training. Some of our most senior staff members started in entry-level positions and have, through a combination of personal drive and internal support, made leaps up the career ladder.

The Role

Providing managed cloud hosting solutions, taking our customers on the journey from initial assessment and advice, through to architecture, design and implementation of resilient, highly available environments for them to deliver their applications. You'll also be involved in the ongoing development and evolution both of individual customer environments and the overall service, including implementing best practice tools for automation and monitoring. You'll have the opportunity to work amongst a great team of professionals, with plenty of scope to learn from more senior members of the team, and sharing your expertise with the less experienced to help them develop into all they can be.

The Candidate

You'll have demonstrable skills in Linux gained over a 2 – 5 year period of working hands on in an operational / sysadmin capacity, and have a good understanding and experience of the AWS feature set. Please note this is not a developer role, but an understanding of the development cycle and continuous integration is beneficial.

As a 24x7x365 operation with time sensitive customers, on call and some variance in working hours goes with the territory, this is on a rota basis as is paid at overtime rates.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to work with exciting and ever growing client base and develop your skills and the service line along the way.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Linux configuration, management and troubleshooting
  • Configuration and management of AWS monitoring tools
  • Configuration and usage of AWS CLI
  • The ability to analyse alerts, logs and reports to identify the source and cause of a problem. Able to conclude whether a problem likely lies in the infrastructure or the application
  • Experience in operations - having worked in an operations environment, including incident management, supporting products and services
  • CI/CD Methodologies
  • Configuration management tools
  • Generic Scripting experience - bash, python

Personal qualities:

  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and priorities
  • Ability to learn quickly and share knowledge
  • Ability to prioritise workload to ensure that team targets are met
  • If you're looking to join a team who work on genuinely exciting projects across all levels of cloud then this position is for you.
