Cyber Recovery Wargames - Anatomy of a Crisis

Date:

September, October, November 2026

Venue:

Birmingham, London, Edinburgh

Systems have gone down. Customers are asking questions. The clock is ticking. What happens next?

The Anatomy of a Crisis Wargame series is a highly immersive, executive-level experience that explores how organisations respond to and recover from major cyber incidents.

This year we are deconstructing high-profile cyber attacks and turning them into interactive scenarios through our company-developed simulation platform so you can test your response and experience the consequences in real time.

What to expect

You will take part in an expert-led wargame that guides you through the response and recovery phases of a real-world cyber attack.

What you will take away
  • First-hand experience of leading through a cyber crisis
  • Practical lessons from a real cyber attack that help build resilience across your organisation
  • A clearer view of what shapes recovery, from the first hours to the long tail
  • A stronger foundation for effective response and recovery
  • A personalised report analysing your response and recovery outcomes
Where you can attend

We are hosting sessions in different cities across the UK.

Each event takes place at an iconic venue, with the opportunity to stay on afterwards and enjoy everything the location has to offer.

I didn’t know generally what to expect today but I was thoroughly impressed with today’s event. Generally one of the most interesting engaging events I’ve been to in a long long time. The variety of the Q&A and people involved was fantastic, thank you.

  • A cyber recovery wargame is a full-scale simulated exercise that tests an organisation’s ability to respond to and recover from a cyber attack. Find out more: What is a Cyber Recovery Wargame? – Databarracks

  • The wargame is designed for leaders who carry responsibility for technology, operations, cyber security, business continuity, resilience or risk. If you are part of shaping your organisation’s response and recovery, this day is for you.

Crisis response is never a solo effort. To get the most from the experience, we recommend attending with colleagues from across your organisation. Recovery only works when teams think, decide and act together.

  • Most cyber exercises rely on discussion alone.

The Anatomy of a Crisis Wargame uses Databarracks’ simulation platform to show the impact of every decision you make throughout the exercise.

Rather than simply discussing how you would respond to a cyber attack, the platform measures the impact of your decisions as the scenario unfolds. Every action is tracked and assessed against key metrics including reputation, share price, recovery costs and recovery time.

The result is a more engaging and insightful experience that helps you understand the consequences those decisions can have on the wider organisation.

Following the exercise, you will receive a personalised report with a detailed breakdown of your response and recovery performance.

  • Initiation of the attack

This section will focus on response, containment and control.

    Escalation and impact

This section will focus on communications, ransom response and customer protection.

    The pathway to recovery

This section will cover restore and recovery priorities.

  • You are welcome to attend with colleagues from across your organisation. Recovery is a team effort, and the wargame is designed to help teams build resilience together and strengthen their response to a cyber incident.

You will also have the opportunity to learn alongside resilience peers from a range of organisations and sectors.

    • A panel discussion and live Q&A with industry experts
    • Networking opportunities with resilience peers
    • The chance to visit and explore some iconic venues
    • A personalised report on your strengths and learnings
  • You will need to bring a laptop, tablet or mobile device so you can use our simulation platform. Wi-Fi will be available.
